Platelet Rich Plasma
Male and female pattern hair loss, also referred to as androgenetic alopecia is a common form of nonscarring hair loss. One unique treatment modality that we offer at our spa to help with this is called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).
What is PRP and how does it work?
Platelets are tiny blood cells apart of our whole blood that assist in blood clotting at the site of the wounds and they play an important role in damaged tissue healing. Platelets are also full of growth factors, which are signaling proteins that stimulate cell growth, differentiation, survival, inflammation, and tissue repair. PRP therapy is based upon the concept that growth factors released from platelets may modulate hair cycle signaling pathways that contribute to regrowth of hair.
What happens during a PRP for hair loss treatment?
At the start of your visit your own blood is drawn. We then spin the blood in a machine called a centrifuge that spins the blood rapidly and separates the PRP. We then extract the PRP and immediately following it is injected directly into the area of the scalp that needs treatment after it is cleansed.
Overall, the entire procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes to complete and there is little to no downtime.
What results can be expected and what is the maintenance?
Staying consistent with PRP treatments is vital when it comes seeing results. If done as suggested, results should be evident within three to six months. Hair growth is a process and takes time, and your results will appear gradually. One can also expect decreased hair shedding at first, followed by early hair regrowth and increased hair length with time.
Most individuals require a series of treatment sessions. We typically recommend once a month for three months. Additional treatments once every three to six months are usually needed to maintain results. Treatment schedules will vary from person to person, and your hair loss specialist at our spa will help to determine how many treatments are needed.
HydraFacial Keravive Treatments
We often forget that our scalp is a part of our skin and in order maintain hair growth and proper scalp health, we need to focus on skincare there, too.
How does it work and what does it do?
HydraFacial Keravive cleanses and exfoliates the scalp, lifting off debris, dead skin cells, and product build-up. We then infuse a proprietary blend of growth factors and antioxidants that simultaneously hydrate, nourish, and stimulate the scalp while hydrating the follicles. The benefits of this treatment include: hydration to the scalp, clearance of clogged hair follicles, removal of dead skin buildup and scalp congestion, boost of circulation in and around the scalp, and reduces dryness, itching, flaking, and inflammation. It also creates a more optimal follicular environment for hair growth.
What does treatment look like?
Treatment is quick (usually about 30 minutes) and painless. Think of it like a facial for your scalp! During your treatment you will feel a gentle suction from the vortex technology and a mild cooling sensation as the solutions are administered during the treatment. It is recommended that a series of 3 in-office visits spread out between 3 months will provide optimal results.
After treatment, you will be sent home with a 30 day supply of Keravive Peptide Complex Spray that continuously stimulates & hydrates the scalp in between treatment. To ensure progress, coming back every 6 months for a single treatment will allow for optimizing long term results.
